DOES IT MATTER AT ALL?

You make the best of what is available to you, to some people this is their orientation. This old man seems to be pretty content with his situation if he can even get sleep in such uncomfortable circumstances. He is a cleaner of a corridor stretch that links two gates, he is also a messenger and a watchman. He sleeps on the veranda with out protective gear and that is where his few belongs are (a bowl, a dish, a big bottle, mingling stick). He has old carpet pieces that pose for a bed and ply wood to brave the hard floor. His attitude is totally different, he is drunk most of the time. I believe sleeping outside year in year out requires some bravery  mechanisms such as those applied by this old man. Socially, emotionally and economically this person is challenged hence his mode of life style. Probably if he had a better place to live, he would live life differently.

  1. OMG! Viola my heart goes to this unfortunate fellow! Can we say his drinking has influenced his living or vice-versa?

  2. Very true Violah, where we live has a big impact on our lifestyle. Alcoholism has always been used by many as an escapism to the miseries of life. It is the foolish wisdom of the ostrich: burrying its head in sand leaving the whole body exposed. But, the grim truth is that it does not remove one from these harsh realities. You can imagine how much money he is losing daily to the brewer. If someone talked to him on the importance of saving a coin everyday, may be, his life could change.

  3. Thanks Violah for yuor observation, but this is how the government leaders forget if they are citizens who suffer economically, yet they spend the government money unwisely. This has really touched me.
